Adidas X Gucci Monogram Slide Red

Released on 7 June 2022 and part of the Gucci GG Platform Sandal line. This release has a cotton upper in Red. adidas has spent decades collaborating with fashion houses and designers, from Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 to Stella McCartney, Raf Simons and Alexander Wang, but a slide is a different kind of object from a sneaker. There is no silhouette history to protect and no performance claim to make. It is a strap and a footbed, which means the entire design argument is material, proportion and branding. This Gucci partnered slide in red does exactly that: it puts a monogram treatment across the strap and lets the two marks share the same small piece of rubber. Red raises the stakes further, because a red slide is not a shoe anybody wears quietly.
