Michael Kors is not a collaboration brand. Its expansion came through corporate acquisition rather than co branded drops: the group bought Jimmy Choo in July 2017 and Versace in September 2018, renamed itself Capri Holdings in January 2019, and later sold Versace on to Prada. What that means for a brown logo crossbody is that its cultural weight was never borrowed from a guest designer or a sneaker tie in. It was built by putting the same recognisable print in front of enough people, for long enough, that it became shorthand.
