That contrast is the point of this collaboration: Nike supplies the athletic vocabulary and the Swoosh, a mark drawn by design student Carolyn Davidson and first used on 18 June 1971, and Jacquemus supplies the palette and the restraint. Nike has spent decades learning that its logo works hardest when it is placed rather than plastered, which is what happens on a garment like this. In brown rather than the sportswear defaults of black, white or grey, the shirt asks to be read as clothing first and kit second.
First: wear it with cream or off white wide leg trousers and minimal jewellery, letting brown and cream carry the whole outfit in a tonal register that suits warm weather and evening light. Second: tuck it into black tailored trousers with a leather belt and a light overshirt, which turns a sportswear collaboration into something that works in a restaurant.
