Chanel Bleu de Chanel Parfum for Men
Chanel Bleu de Chanel Parfum for Men

Origin
Bleu de Chanel arrived in 2010 as Chanel's first men's masterbrand since Egoiste in 1990, composed by Jacques Polge and launched with a Martin Scorsese directed film starring Gaspard Ulliel. It took Best New Male Fragrance at the Fragrance Foundation Awards and then held the number two spot on men's bestseller lists for years, which is rare air for a house fragrance. The Parfum followed in 2018, this time formulated by Olivier Polge, Jacques's son, and Chanel calls it the most intense of the Bleu de Chanel fragrances. It won Fragrance of the Year in the men's luxury category. Ulliel carried the campaign for 12 years until his passing, after which Timothee Chalamet took the face, then Jacob Elordi.
Utility
The Parfum trades reach for staying power. Longevity runs 8 to 12 hours before settling into a skin scent, so 2 sprays to the neck and 1 to the chest is the right dose, and heavy application works against a fragrance built to be discovered up close. It is a cool weather and evening scent by design, which in India makes it a November to February bottle, plus a year round option for air conditioned rooms. Two ways in: a charcoal or navy suit for a reception or a boardroom day, where the woody base matches the register, and a dark knit with wool trousers for a dinner where only the person beside you gets it. Keep it boxed, away from humidity and light. If you are buying Bleu de Chanel Parfum in India, this is the concentration to hold.
Influence
Bleu de Chanel is the most worn men's fragrance in the modern luxury canon, second best selling in its market across consecutive years and second most popular in Britain more recently. That reach came from campaigns treated like short films: Scorsese first, then James Gray in Los Angeles, then Steve McQueen shooting Bangkok and an underwater London sequence. Gaspard Ulliel was the face for 12 years, Timothee Chalamet followed him, and Jacob Elordi took over after. The Parfum is the version people graduate to once the blue bottle stops being a discovery and starts being a signature. Wearing it is not a flex on rarity, it is a flex on knowing which concentration to pick.
Construction
The Parfum opens on aromatic freshness rather than a citrus blast: lemon and bright green facets that read clean without turning sharp, softer and rounder than the EDP's grapefruit and pink pepper attack. The heart brings lavender, geranium and a thread of pineapple, which stops it going soapy and gives the middle hours a faint sweetness you only catch up close. The base is the reason to buy this concentration specifically: cedar and sandalwood from New Caledonia, tonka bean and amberwood, a creamy woody floor with a suede like finish instead of the EDP's warmer amber. Everything is pulled inward. It sits close and warm rather than pushing outward, so the fragrance rewards proximity.
