Designed by Peter Moore and released on 30 November 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Black/Game Royal. Nike signed Michael Jordan on 26 October 1984 to a six year deal worth 2.5 million dollars, roughly three times any other contract in the league at the time, and unusually it paid him a royalty on sales. That structure is the reason the first shoe was allowed to be loud. Royal is one of the earliest colour stories the Jordan 1 wore, a saturated blue set against black with no white panel to soften the contrast, arriving at a moment when the league's shoe norm was overwhelmingly pale. This Retro Low OG keeps that exact pairing and cuts the collar below the ankle, so the blue quarter panel and the black toe carry the whole silhouette. You are wearing the palette that taught people a basketball shoe could pick a side.
Game Royal is a colour that wants plain company. Pair it with mid wash straight leg denim and a heavyweight white tee so the blue is the only saturated thing in the outfit, or run black tapered trousers with a black knit and let the blue quarter panel read as the single accent. It works with cropped and cuffed hems: the low cut means the collar line is visible, so anything pooling over it kills the shape. Sizing follows your usual Jordan 1 length with a snug midfoot that relaxes. The Swoosh is stitched on, the ankle collar is padded and folded down into a low cut, and the outsole is rubber with the pivot circle at the forefoot. Because the panels are leather rather than knit, the shoe creases at the toe and then holds its shape, and it takes a few wears before the collar softens against your ankle bone.
