Purple is the rarest colour in men's watchmaking, which makes the MTP-1302PD-6AVEF the most unusual thing in Casio's everyday analogue range. The company can do this because it has no orthodoxy to defend. Casio started in 1946 as an electronics workshop and entered every category by rebuilding it cheaper: calculators in 1957, wristwatches with the Casiotron in November 1974, keyboards with Casiotone in January 1980. None of those moves were respectful of tradition, and neither is a purple dial on a standard dress case. The MTP-1302 is the workhorse Enticer platform, and this execution is what happens when a company treats colour as a variable rather than a risk.
Utility
Two ways to place it. First, tonal: charcoal or slate tailoring with a white shirt, the purple reading almost black until it catches light and reveals itself. Second, deliberate colour: cream, camel and off-white, where the dial becomes the accent and nothing else competes. Skip it if the rest of the outfit is already loud, since a purple dial is a full statement on its own. Size the band so the case stays centred on the wrist. Construction
Purple is difficult to print on a dial because it shifts under different light: cool and near-navy in daylight, warmer and closer to plum under tungsten. That shifting is the feature. It gives an inexpensive watch a quality usually reserved for lacquered dials, where the face changes across a day. Legibility rests on the indices and hands being bright enough against a dark saturated ground, which is where the layout of this case earns its keep.
