Casio Vintage A168wemb-1bdf Quartz Black Dial Digital Stainless Steel Watch

The A168 is the tall cousin of Casio's small steel digitals, and the A168WEMB-1BDF is the version that goes fully dark: black dial, black finished steel, the whole watch reduced to one tone. Casio has been building this case language since its digital era opened with the Casiotron in November 1974, and the shape survived because it was never styled in the first place. A rectangular module needs a rectangular case, a bracelet needs to be flat, so that is what got made. Blacking the whole thing out decades later did not require redesigning anything. It just removed the last bit of contrast and turned a utility watch into a graphic object.
