The Chinese Track Top is what happens when adidas lets a regional studio rewrite a global archetype. Designed by the adidas Originals team in Shanghai, the CTT takes the classic Originals track jacket and swaps its most recognisable feature, the exposed zip, for pankou, the knotted fabric buttons of traditional Chinese dress, set under a mandarin standing collar. The zip is still there, just hidden behind the buttons, so the reference stays heritage while the wearing experience stays modern. It debuted at Shanghai Fashion Week, then released first across mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan before reaching Europe and finally the United States. This is version 3.1, the third evolution of the idea, and Ash Grey is the quietest read in the range: a cool light grey that lets cut and proportion carry the jacket instead of colour.
