Blue dial on full steel is the combination that took over watch design over the last decade, and the MTP-B145D-2A2VDF is Casio's version of it in the newer B-series analogue case. The B-series is where the company tightened its dial layouts and cleaned the case lines rather than piling on functions, which is a restraint that suits it. Casio built its identity by stripping expensive instruments back to what they actually do, a method it established with the 14-A calculator in June 1957 and carried into watches with the Casiotron in November 1974. A blue dial in steel is that method applied to the most requested look in modern watch retail.
Two placements. First, office standard: white or light blue shirt, grey or navy trousers, the dial echoing the shirt and the bracelet picking up the belt hardware. Second, weekend: white tee, indigo denim, white leather sneakers, where blue and steel do all the work.
