Court Vision is the accessible end of Nike's basketball archive, a lace up low top that borrows the proportions of the brand's famous court models without carrying their weight, their price or their mythology. It is the version most people actually buy. The company behind it started in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, an importer of Onitsuka Tiger shoes selling out of Phil Knight's car at Oregon track meets, and only became Nike after that relationship ended in 1972, with a name coined by employee Jeff Johnson and a Swoosh, drawn by Carolyn Davidson, first used in June 1971. Court Vision is what that inheritance looks like once it is simplified into an everyday shoe.
One: the default, straight leg denim with a single cuff, a plain crew and a low top that keeps out of the way. Two: smart casual, chinos with a clean hem and an overshirt, where a lace up court shoe reads tidier than a runner. It is an all day casual shoe rather than a walking or training one, so add a cushioned sock for long days on pavement. Size true. The court low top became universal clothing because Nike's basketball shoes were absorbed into fashion faster than into sport. From the 1980s Air Jordans, Air Force 1s and Air Max models became staples of urban and hip hop dress and then of mainstream American youth wardrobes, and by the 1990s and 2000s the shape had detached from the game entirely. Court Vision belongs to the end of that process, where a shoe references basketball the way a polo shirt references tennis: as a silhouette everyone reads without thinking. Nike's advertising voice, built on Just Do It from 1988, sold that shift as much as any athlete did.
The Court Vision Lo is a panelled low top with a stitched Swoosh acting as a structural overlay across the quarter, a padded collar and a rubber outsole descended from Nike's waffle tread engineering. It is a firm, flat riding shoe with modest cushioning, built for daily wear rather than for training, which is why the break in is short and the shape holds. Because this listing carries no style code and names no colourway or material, treat the upper specification as unconfirmed, since the model has been produced in leather and synthetic versions across many colour options.
