Adidas X Gucci Monogram Slide Red (Women's)

This is the adidas slide as luxury object, with a monogram pattern running across the strap and Red carrying the whole piece. The base item could not be humbler: adidas built the slide for the walk between the pool and the changing room, a functional shoe for wet floors from a company Adolf Dassler founded in his mother's laundry room in Herzogenaurach. Putting a house monogram on it is a deliberate collision of registers, the same trick adidas has been enabling since it effectively invented the modern fashion designer sneaker partnership with Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 line and Stella McCartney from 2004. In red, the contrast between function and fashion is fully lit.
