Released on 21 October 2021 and part of adidas's Forum line. This release has a satin upper in Bliss/Green Night/Bliss. Jeremy Scott is one of the designer collaborators adidas brought in after establishing the format with Yohji Yamamoto and Stella McCartney, and he was hired to do the opposite of restraint. The Forum Wings line is his signature move: take the Forum, an eighties basketball shoe with a strap across the instep and a serious cupsole, and attach wings to it. Nobody asked for it and that is the point. This low version applies a money graphic, currency printed across the shoe as material rather than as a small logo. It is a joke about value stated on the most literal surface available. The Forum was always a loud silhouette, and Scott's contribution was to prove there was no ceiling.
Two ways. First, let it be the entire statement: black or white everything, straight leg trousers cropped to show the wings, and no other pattern anywhere in the fit. Second, dilute it: heavy denim and an oversized jacket so the shoe is discovered rather than announced, which is how most people actually wear a printed collectible. This is a night shoe, a photo shoe, a weekend shoe. Forum lasts run wide and long, so most people take a half size down. Printed panels do not survive scrubbing: wipe gently with a damp cloth, keep away from solvents, store upright so the wings are not crushed, and stuff the collar to keep the ankle shape.
adidas effectively invented the modern designer sneaker partnership, and its roster runs from Yamamoto's Y-3 and Stella McCartney since 2004 through Raf Simons and Alexander Wang. Jeremy Scott is the wildest member of that list, and the wings became a recognisable object in their own right, one of very few collaboration designs that people can draw from memory. That kind of recognition is what adidas has always converted best: the Superstar became public property after Run-DMC, and Scott's work operates on the same logic, a shape that gets photographed and repeated until it stops needing explanation. Money print is the most on the nose version of that argument.
Underneath the theatre this is a Forum. The strap over the laces exists because a basketball player needed midfoot lockdown that laces alone could not give, and the cupsole and padded collar come from the same court brief. The Three Stripes reinforce the sidewall where lateral load is highest, doing the structural job they were stitched on to do when adidas started calling itself the three stripes company. What Scott changes is everything visible: the wings mounted at the ankle, and the money print applied across the upper panels. The result is heavy, high volume and built to hold shape, which is fortunate, because a shoe with wings on it needs to look intentional rather than collapsed.
