Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released on 13 October 2018 as part of the Air Jordan 8 line. This release has a leather upper in White/White-Turbo Green. The Air Jordan 8 is one of the busiest shoes the line has produced, a model from the stretch where Tinker Hatfield was treating each release as a design problem rather than a colour update, and it is remembered for the strapped upper that holds the foot across the midfoot. South Beach names a palette rather than a place you will wear it: bright, warm, tropical, closer to Miami graphics than to the red, black and white that work as this brand's own colours. Putting that palette on a model built to look complicated gives you a shoe that argues with itself, which is precisely why people who know the archive keep coming back to it.
Give this shoe room and keep everything else plain. First: black cargo trousers with a plain white tee, letting the straps and the palette do all the talking. Second: light grey sweat shorts with a plain tee in summer, which is the climate the colours are named for and the only time this makeup looks entirely natural.
