The whole business is an inheritance argument: a rookie signed on 26 October 1984 on a six year deal worth about 2.5 million dollars with royalties attached, a line that outgrew the player and became a standalone Nike division in 1997, and a division that by 2022 generated roughly 5.1 billion dollars with a reported 150 to 256 million dollars flowing back to Jordan himself. Bloodline extends the same metaphor into a colourway name.
