    Released on 15 August 2020 and part of Hoka's Bondi 7 line. This release has a mesh upper in Black/Black. This is the wide-fit Bondi 7 in triple black, style code 1110530 BBLC, and the width is the whole story. Hoka's founding idea, worked out in Annecy in 2009 by two former Salomon trail runners, was an oversized cushioned platform that let you attack descents, and the natural consequence of a big platform is that it suits a foot with volume. A dedicated wide build takes the model out of the compromise zone, where people size up in length to buy width and end up sliding around. Triple black then removes every visual cue that this is a specialist fit. It just looks like the shoe, in the size that works.

    The wide version keeps everything that defines the Bondi and gives the forefoot the room it needs. The stack is built around the brand's founding low weight to cushion ratio, the heel flares out to broaden the landing platform, and the sidewall drops the heel into the midsole rather than perching it on top, so a soft, tall shoe still tracks straight. Rocker geometry rolls the stride forward. The upper is a breathable engineered mesh with a plush collar, cut with more forefoot volume so the toes splay instead of pressing into the overlays. In full black the extra width is genuinely hard to read from the outside, which is the point.
