Designed by Peter Moore and released on 7 May 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Summit White/Light Smoke Grey/Neutral Grey/Sail. The 85 in this name points at the year the Air Jordan 1 actually reached people, 1 April 1985, and the Low 85 is the line's attempt to cut that first shoe down without modernising it out of recognition. Neutral Grey is the softest possible reading of it. Where the earliest colourways used the Chicago red, black and white palette that now works as a brand colour, this one takes the pressure off completely and lets you see the pattern itself: the toe panel, the ankle wing, the Swoosh line running back to the heel. Grey is the colour you choose when you want the oldest silhouette in the catalogue to be furniture rather than a statement, worn every day instead of saved.
Grey wants either a full tonal run or one hard colour to push against.
