Designed by Peter Moore and released on 26 October 2022 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a leather upper in Phantom/Black/Safety Orange. Seasonal releases are the low stakes end of sneaker design, which is precisely why they get away with more. The Halloween 2022 grade school Dunk Low, style code DH9765 003, works a black and orange palette that needs no explanation anywhere in the world, delivered on the silhouette that has become the default first proper sneaker for a lot of teenagers. Nike has built calendar releases into its business since it became big enough to own the calendar, holding about half the US athletic shoe market by 1980 and going public the same year. Recipe one: black jeans, an orange graphic tee and a black bomber, a straight read of the colourway that suits the season it was named for. Underneath sits the standard grade school Dunk build, a foam midsole with no visible air unit and a rubber outsole with a pivot circle, so the ride is flat, firm and close to the ground. The scaled last runs slightly narrower than the adult version.
