Released on 27 February 2025 and part of Nike's Vomero 18 line. This release has a mesh upper in Platinum Tint/Siren Red/Light Smoke Grey/Metallic Pewter. Platinum Tint with Siren Red is the Vomero 18 dressed for daylight. Where the bright green version of this shoe announces itself, this one runs a pale, chalky grey body with a single hot red accent, which is the combination that lets a max cushioned trainer pass as an everyday shoe. The Vomero line is the soft end of Nike's daily running range, built for volume rather than speed, and the eighteenth edition is the most exaggerated version of that idea yet. The thinking behind it is old company doctrine: Bill Bowerman started Nike's product story by insisting that ordinary runners deserved better equipment than the market was giving them.
Comfort first, in two directions. Recipe one: long easy runs and recovery days in shorts and a technical tee, where the high stack is doing real work on tired legs and hard city tarmac. Recipe two: airport days, long walks and standing shifts, with grey joggers or wide black trousers and a plain sweat, since Platinum Tint reads as a neutral rather than as running kit. Skip it for lifting and court sports, where a tall soft platform works against you. Size half up from your formal length. Pale mesh in Indian conditions needs discipline: brush dust off after each use, spot clean with mild soap and a soft brush, never machine wash, and dry in shade to avoid uneven discolouring.
Nike's everyday running shoes sell on borrowed credibility from the sharp end of the sport, and that credibility is real: the brand's roster has included Sebastian Coe, Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Michael Johnson and Allyson Felix, and its racing work with ZoomX and carbon plates reset what a marathon time means. But the line that actually built the audience was aimed elsewhere. Just Do It, written by Dan Wieden in 1988, first aired on 1 July 1988 with the 80 year old runner Walt Stack, and Advertising Age later named it one of the top five slogans of the twentieth century. A soft, pale trainer is that message in its least dramatic form.
The midsole is the product. A tall, wide platform delivers a soft landing and a broad base, and the height itself has become the visual signature in the way that the window into the Air unit defined the 1987 Air Max. Nike's foam history moves from Lunarlite, a lightweight foam, to ZoomX, the lightest and most responsive material in the range, with daily trainers using the durable end of that spectrum. Platinum Tint across the upper means a light mesh that will show road dust immediately, with Siren Red picked out on the Swoosh and heel.
