Released on 19 March 2021 and part of the Crazy BYW line. This release has a leather upper in Black/Black/Black. Crazy is the name adidas puts on basketball shoes that take a risk, and BYW stands for the platform's whole argument: put Boost where the foot lands rather than treating it as a running material. Pharrell Williams has been a designer collaborator with adidas across multiple lines, and 0 To 60 is his framing of the shoe, acceleration as the thing worth designing for. Triple Black strips the model of the colour play his work is usually associated with and leaves the geometry exposed, which on a shoe this structurally odd is the harder choice. You buy this one for the shape rather than the palette: a basketball silhouette built around visible cushioning pods, delivered in a colourway that dares you to notice them anyway.
Utility

Construction
Boost is the reason this platform exists. adidas developed it with the German chemical company BASF and launched it in running in 2013, and it is a thermoplastic polyurethane rather than the EVA foam the industry standardised on. Thousands of TPU pellets are fused together, and the bounce comes from how the material is processed rather than from the raw polymer, which gives it higher energy return and far more stable behaviour when temperatures swing. On a basketball derived build that means the underfoot feel stays consistent from a cold gym to a hot court. In triple black the pods lose their usual white contrast and become texture, read as a change in surface rather than a change in colour.
