New Balance 550 Vintage Pack - Marsh Green

Released on 6 August 2024 and part of New Balance's 550 line. This release has a leather upper in Sea Salt/Marsh Green/Shadow Grey. The Vintage Pack does openly what people were already doing to their 550s: making them look older than they are. This is a basketball silhouette from an earlier chapter of New Balance, revived because its plain panelled construction reads better now than most things designed since, and the vintage treatment dresses it in the palette of a shoe pulled out of storage. Marsh Green is the key to it, a dull, slightly yellowed green with none of the brightness a sports green usually carries, the sort of tone that suggests decades of light exposure rather than a season on the shelf. Worn against an off white base, it turns a court shoe into something closer to an artefact.
