Nike Air Force 1 Low Canvas Triple Black

Culture Note™

Origin

chevron
Designed by Bruce Kilgore and part of Nike's Air Force 1 line. This release has the Black/Black colourway. Bruce Kilgore drew the Air Force 1 in 1982, named it after the presidential plane, and made it the first basketball shoe to carry Nike Air. Nike then killed it in 1984. Baltimore retailers pushed hard enough to bring it back in 1986, and Harlem adopted it so completely that the shoe picked up a second name, Uptowns. Four decades later it is still the sneaker Nike sells more of than any other. The Canvas pack is a material rewrite of that shape rather than a new silhouette: rugged canvas uppers cut with semi-raw edges, deliberately deconstructed, released alongside green and navy at 100 dollars. Triple Black is the version that strips everything out so you read shape and texture instead of colour.
