Origin
Released on 11 November 2021 and part of the Court Royale line. This release has a leather upper in White/Dark Teal Green. Tennis is where Nike first put a professional athlete under contract: Ilie Nastase was the company's first pro endorser, and the court shoes of that era were low, white and quiet because the sport required them to be. Court Royale 2 is the direct descendant of that requirement, a plain low shoe with a white base, a stitched Swoosh and nothing else asking for attention. Dark Teal Green is the variable. It is a deep, cool green that reads almost black at a distance and only shows its colour up close, which is exactly the kind of restraint a court shoe was designed for in the first place.
Utility
Two ways to wear it. Cream chinos with a white shirt and a navy or forest knit, where the teal accent ties the shoe to the top half and the outfit reads smart casual. Or dark straight jeans with a plain grey sweatshirt, where the shoe stays white and simple and does not compete. A white court shoe with a deep green accent is a warm weather and travel workhorse and it goes with almost anything except heavy pattern. Size true; court lasts are narrow. For care, protect the white upper before first wear, clean spots the same day rather than letting them set, and keep the pair out of mud since a white base marks permanently.
Influence
Nike built its cultural weight in basketball and running, but the court shoe is where its everyday wardrobe presence quietly sits. From the 1980s the company's shoes moved from sport into urban and hip hop fashion and then into mainstream casual and athleisure dress through the 1990s and 2000s, and the plainest silhouettes travelled furthest because they asked the least of the wearer. Serena Williams sits on Nike's endorsement roster, and tennis has always given the brand a different register from the one basketball gave it: cleaner, more formal, easier to wear with normal clothes. This shoe belongs entirely to that quieter line.
Construction
White carries the upper and Dark Teal Green carries the Swoosh and heel detailing, which is the oldest and clearest arrangement a tennis shoe knows: one field, one mark. That contrast means the shoe reads as white from across a room and as a colourway in conversation. The platform is a flat, low court sole with a rubber outsole meant for hard surfaces, so the ride is firm, stable and close to the ground rather than cushioned. Practically, a white base is the part you will maintain and a dark accent is the part that stays looking new, so the shoe ages unevenly, with the upper needing attention long before the Swoosh does.
