New Balance 550 Sea Salt

Released on 1 July 2022 and part of New Balance's 550 line. This release has a leather upper in Sea Salt/Black. Sea Salt is the colourway that turned the 550 from a basketball reissue into a default. A soft off-white across the whole shoe removes the team sport signalling and leaves a clean low top that reads as a wardrobe item, which is why this palette became the one everyone recognises. The model itself comes from New Balance's basketball chapter, approached with the same fit-first logic the brand applies to running, a habit inherited from the arch support business it started in 1906. Nothing here was engineered for hype. The 550 got adopted, then repeated, which is more or less how every New Balance success has happened.
