Origin
Adios is the oldest promise in adidas racing. The original adizero Adios is the shoe Haile Gebrselassie laced up in Berlin to take the marathon world record down to 2:03:59, and the line has stacked over 150 elite race wins since. The Adios Pro is that lineage rebuilt for the carbon era, and this is the Tokyo Marathon edition of the fourth generation. adidas did the same for the Adios Pro 3, so Cherry Blossom is the second time it has dressed its top racer for Japan's biggest road race. The colorway is Core White with Silver Metallic and Clear Pink, a sakura read where the fold-over heel is shaped like a cherry blossom petal and pink runs through the lining, tongues and tread. It went out globally through adidas.com ahead of race weekend in Tokyo, style code JQ4446.
Utility
Two ways to run it. Race day: this is a half and full marathon tool, so save it for goal races and a few sharpening sessions rather than daily mileage, because the foam and thin outsole are tuned for a limited number of fast kilometres. Off duty: Core White and Clear Pink sits clean with grey tapered joggers and a plain crew, or with washed denim if you want the silver to work. Fit truth: it runs slightly small and the toebox is noticeably narrower than the Adios Pro 3, so wide feet and half sizes should go up. Breathability is only average, so expect warm feet in Indian summers. If you plan to buy the Adizero Adios Pro 4 Cherry Blossom in India, try it on in person. Never machine wash them, and store them flat.
Influence
Marathon majors have become sneaker drops, and Tokyo is the one that carries the most design weight, because sakura is a visual language everybody already reads. Sneaker media picked it up on the style code alone, well before shelves. Context matters too: adidas debuted the Adios Pro Evo 3, the shoe it built for sub-two-hour attempts, at that same Tokyo race, so the Adios Pro 4 sits one step down from the brand's most extreme record chaser rather than off to the side of it. And it crosses over. A white, pink and silver carbon racer gets bought by plenty of people who will never run 42 km, which is fair, because Cherry Blossom is one of the few super shoe colorways that looks deliberate off the road.
Construction
Underfoot is dual-layer Lightstrike Pro, the softest and bounciest version adidas has made of that foam, stacked 39 mm at the heel and 33 mm at the forefoot for a 6 mm drop. Running through it are carbon-infused ENERGYRODS 2.0: five rods that mirror your metatarsal bones instead of one flat plate, so stiffness lands where you actually toe off rather than fighting your foot's natural splay. The upper is LIGHTLOCK, a woven mesh with one-way stretch and internal support bands that pin your midfoot down when you lean into a corner at pace. The outsole is LIGHTTRAXION with a Continental rubber patch under the big toe, exactly where a marathoner grinds through first. Every gram here serves one job: holding goal pace deep into a race.
