Yeezy 500 High Mist Stone

Designed by Kanye West and released on 11 October 2021 as part of the Yeezy 500 line. This release has a suede upper in Mist Stone/Mist Stone/Mist Stone. The 500 arrived in December 2017 as the heaviest, most grounded shape in the line, a wide, low slung silhouette that looked closer to a nineties hiking shoe than to anything the knit models were doing. The High version raises that body into a boot, wrapping the ankle and turning the design from a sneaker into a piece of outerwear for the foot. Mist Stone keeps it in the pale grey and sand register the line has always favoured, colours named after weather and material rather than fashion, which lets the volume of the silhouette read as sculptural instead of loud. It is one of the quieter shapes in a catalogue built on recognisable outlines.
