Not every Nike is a flagship, and the company would not exist without the ones that are not. Blue Ribbon Sports sold about 1,300 pairs of Japanese running shoes for roughly 8,000 dollars in its first year, which is a business built on ordinary runners buying ordinary shoes, and the Downshifter line is the modern continuation of that. It is the accessible road trainer, the pair bought by someone starting rather than someone chasing a time.
