The AE line is adidas's current signature basketball programme, and With Love is the version that stops pretending a performance shoe has to look severe. adidas has been building court shoes since the Superstar arrived in 1969 with a rubber shell toe designed to protect players' feet under the basket, a shoe worn by a reported 75 percent of NBA players by 1973 with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and George Gervin among the early adopters.
