Origin
The Foam Runner is the strangest thing Kanye West ever put on adidas shelves and the one that stuck. It shock-dropped through Yeezy Supply in a single pale tone at 75 dollars, sold out on sight, and got nicknamed Yeezy Crocs by people who had not worked out what they were looking at. Made in the USA and built partly from harvested algae, it was the first Yeezy to treat sustainability as a design material rather than a footnote. The sculpted sole echoes the Yeezy Boost 700 midsole, so the silhouette reads Yeezy without carrying a logo. Carbon, style code IG5349, is the monochrome edit of that idea: flat deep grey, no MX marbling, nothing to pull your eye off the shape. The Foam Runner survived its own punchline. It launched into a wave of Yeezy Crocs jokes and sold out immediately anyway, which answered the only real question: whether people would wear a moulded foam clog in public. Carbon is where the shape reached its most wearable setting. The marbled MX colourways took the attention and the resale headlines, but flat monochrome grey is the pair you actually put on daily without the shoe running the outfit. Its standing shifted again once Ye and adidas separated, because Carbon came out of inventory already in production before the split. Construction

The body is a fusion of EVA foam and an algae composite, which is why it behaves the way it does: light enough that you stop noticing it, dense enough that it holds its shape instead of folding flat, and completely unbothered by water. The lattice cut-outs across the midfoot, toe and heel are not decoration, they are the ventilation, and the reason these stay breathable through Indian heat where a closed clog would cook. The footbed is textured so your foot grips instead of sliding. The outsole is foam too, cut through so the material can expand as you land, which is where the give comes from. Carbon adds nothing to the recipe, it only removes visual noise.
