New Balance 530 Heron Blue

Released on 24 September 2024 and part of New Balance's 530 line. This release has a mesh upper in Heron Blue/White/Silver Metallic. The 530 comes from New Balance's late nineties and early two thousands running catalogue, the workaday end of the range rather than the flagship end, and that ordinariness is exactly why it came back. It is a shoe with no myth attached, which made it available for reinterpretation once the brand's plainness became a design position. Heron Blue softens the usual formula. Instead of the mesh and silver everyday version, you get a pale, chalky blue that reads as summer rather than gym, drawn across the same panelled running upper. The 530 works because New Balance never designed it to be looked at, and a colour like Heron Blue turns that indifference into something quietly good looking.
