The Yeezy Slide was unveiled in December 2019 and launched in Desert Sand, Resin and Bone, and the whole proposition was strange at the time: a one-piece foam slipper with no logo, no Boost, no branding of any kind, priced like a pool sandal and treated like a drop. It worked because the shape was unmistakable, that oversized foam block on a sawtooth sole reading as futuristic house slipper. Slate Grey, style code ID2350, is the grown-up version of that idea. A single medium grey runs across the entire silhouette, footbed to forefoot strap, with no contrast anywhere. It arrived as part of the final wave of Yeezy releases through the adidas Confirmed app at 70 dollars, which is part of why the pair carries a finality the earlier tonal colourways never had.
Two ways to wear the Yeezy Slide Slate Grey. One: grey or black sweat shorts, a heavyweight tee and thick white crew socks, the standard uniform for gym runs, grocery runs and doorstep deliveries. Two: wide black trousers with a slim ribbed tank or an open shirt, socks off, which is the version that works for beach towns, hotel corridors and long flights where you want to slip out of shoes. Sizing is the one thing to get right: Yeezy Slides run small and only come in full sizes, so go a full size up from your usual, and up a full size again if your feet are genuinely wide. Cleaning is easy: soap, water, a soft brush, air dry. Keep them out of direct sun and off hot car dashboards, since EVA foam warps with sustained heat.
The Yeezy Slide moved faster than almost anything else adidas has made this decade, going from niche hype object to genuine global default in about two years, worn through airports, gyms, beaches and building lobbies with equal seriousness. Slate Grey belongs to the last chapter of that line, which changes how people treat it: this is a colourway that will not restock in the numbers the earliest tonal pairs did. Grey is also the most socially flexible of the Yeezy neutrals. Bone and Desert Sand telegraph what they are from across a street, while Slate Grey just reads as a quiet piece of footwear until someone who knows the shape clocks it.
One piece of moulded EVA foam does everything here. There is no stitching, no lining and no seam to blow out, which is why these survive pool decks, hostel bathrooms and monsoon puddles without complaint. The forefoot strap is wide and seamless, spreading pressure across the whole top of the foot instead of digging a line into it the way a thin thong strap does. The footbed carries a top layer tuned for step-in comfort, and the foam starts firm and then moulds toward your foot shape over the first few weeks, so the fit gets more personal with wear. Deep grooves cut into the outsole handle wet tile and wet marble. The whole slide is light enough that you forget it is on.
