Designed by Peter Moore and part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a patent leather upper in White/White/White/White. Just Do It was written in 1988 by Dan Wieden, of the agency Nike had worked with since 1976, and the first film ran on 1 July 1988 with Walt Stack, an eighty year old runner, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Advertising Age later named it a top five slogan of the twentieth century, and the material sits in the Smithsonian. Putting that line on a women's Dunk Low in white with iridescent finish is Nike using its own most famous three words as ornament. The shoe is not quoting a team or an athlete, it is quoting the company's voice, which is the rarer move and the reason this pair reads as brand statement rather than sports nostalgia.
Two looks. One, clean and bright: white wide leg denim, a grey cropped sweat, minimal jewellery, so the iridescence is the only shimmer in the outfit. Two, evening: a black slip skirt or black tailored trousers with a leather jacket, where the shifting finish catches artificial light and does the work heels usually do. Best for daytime out, travel and low key nights. White plus iridescent means proactive care: wipe after every wear, treat marks the same day, avoid rain and dust, and never scrub the finish. Keep them in the box, not in a pile at the door. Fresh laces every few months keep the whole pair looking new.
Nike's endorsement history is not only male. Serena Williams is an endorser, and the brand has sponsored track athletes including Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Allyson Felix, extending the line that began with Steve Prefontaine as its first track endorser. Just Do It has always been the connective tissue across those careers, a slogan flexible enough to sell running, tennis and simply getting out of the house. When Nike built a long term campaign around Colin Kaepernick from September 2018, the same three words carried the weight, drawing burnings and boycotts alongside public support from LeBron James and Serena Williams. That is what you are wearing on the panel: a phrase with a fight history.
White uppers with an iridescent treatment change with the light, which is the whole trick: the shoe looks plain indoors and shifts colour in sun. That effect needs flat, generous panels to be visible, and the Dunk Low's broad quarter and toe panels give it room. The build is the standard low cut Dunk shape, unpadded low collar, flat ground feel, laces as the main fit adjustment. Women's sizing is graded on its own last, so check conversion carefully rather than assuming a straight swap from men's numbers. Iridescent surfaces mark more visibly than matte ones, so clean with a soft damp cloth and skip abrasive brushes.
