Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released on 7 March 2026 as part of the Air Jordan 4 line. This release has the Imperial Purple/Multi-Color-Multi-Color colourway. The Jordan 4 is the model where Tinker Hatfield's design series hit full stride, adding netting panels and winged eyelets to a silhouette that still had to survive an NBA season. Naming a colourway after the Lakers puts a Bulls era shoe into rival colours, which is a move the brand can only make because the line stopped belonging to one franchise long ago: since 1997 it has been a standalone Nike division with its own athlete roster across basketball, football and baseball. A Lakers coded 4 is therefore not a contradiction so much as proof of scale. The shoe reads as a city reference now rather than as a jersey, which is how most Jordan colourways function.
A team coded colourway is easiest to wear when the rest of the outfit stays neutral. The 4 is built around visible engineering: mesh netting set into the quarter panels for airflow, plastic winged eyelets that let you tune midfoot tension, a moulded heel counter and a sculpted midsole carrying Nike Air cushioning, which has been part of the line since the second model. That makes it a more supportive and more cushioned shoe than a Jordan 1, and a taller one. Lace it evenly through the wings rather than pulling one side hard, since uneven tension stresses the plastic.
