Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Black Pure Silver

Released on 1 January 2024 and part of ASICS's Gel Kayano line. This release has a mesh upper in Black/Pure Silver. The Gel-Kayano line is one of the rare running franchises named for its own designer, and the 14 marks the exact point where that lineage changed hands. Toshikazu Kayano designed every model in the series up to this one; the Gel-Kayano 14, released by ASICS in 2008, was the first entry designed by someone else, Hidenori Yamashita. That succession alone gives the shoe a specific place in the series' history. It arrived as a technical running shoe of its era, and later reissues have treated it as a period piece, with retail descriptions framing it as a homage to the style of late-2000s performance runners brought back with updated materials and construction.
