Origin
Released on 7 May 2025 and part of the 2010 line. This release has a nubuck upper in Dockside/Indigo. Dockside Indigo is a harbour colour, and on a brand founded in the Boston area in 1906 that is not an accident of naming. New Balance's whole history is coastal New England industry: William J Riley starting the New Balance Arch Support Company, Arthur Hall joining as a salesman in 1927 and becoming a partner in 1934, the Kidds building the Trackster in 1960, and Jim Davis buying the company in 1972 when it had six employees making about thirty pairs a day. The 2010 is a deep archive silhouette from the technical end of the catalogue, and dressing it in a worn indigo rather than a sports colour points it back at that working, dockside register. The code is U2010AGY.
Utility
Two ways to run it. Raw denim with a grey marl sweatshirt and a navy jacket puts the shoe in its natural family, indigo on indigo, which works as long as the washes differ. Or stone wide leg trousers with a cream knit for the version where the blue is the only depth in a pale outfit. This is a walking, commuting and travel shoe, and the dark colour means it survives days you cannot plan for. Buy true to length and use the width fittings rather than sizing up. Construction
Indigo is a colour with history in workwear, and it behaves differently to a synthetic blue: it reads deeper in shadow, lifts toward slate in daylight, and pairs naturally with grey rather than fighting it. On a technical runner like the 2010, with a layered upper and a substantial sculpted midsole, that depth stops the shoe looking plasticky. It is also a practical choice, since dark blue hides city marks far better than any pale tone. Underneath, this is a house that has split structure from shock absorption since ENCAP arrived with the 995 in 1986, and its later foams follow the same division, Fresh Foam tuned zonally to place cushioning and support where the foot needs it. Expect substance underfoot rather than lightness.
