Nike Calm Slide Sail

Released on 14 July 2023 and part of the Calm Slide line. This release has a eva upper in Sail/Sail. Nike's whole engineering history is a hunt for less: Bill Bowerman poured rubber into his wife's waffle iron looking for a lighter sole, Flywire later used cables to hold the foot with minimal upper material, and Lunarlite cut weight out of the midsole. A slide is the extreme end of that logic, a shoe stripped back to a footbed and a strap with nothing else left to remove. The Calm Slide is Nike's version, and this one comes in Sail, a warm off-white rather than a stark one. It is the most honest product the company makes, because there is nowhere for design to hide when there is almost no shoe.
