Origin
Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released on 3 May 2025 as part of Nike's Air Jordan 4 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Aluminum/Blue Tint/Oil Green. Forget Me Not is a flower name, and it lands on the Air Jordan 4, a shoe from the era when Nike's basketball line stopped being footwear and became an institution. Michael Jordan signed with Nike in 1984 and the partnership turned into a business of its own, marketed through Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon films and eventually spun into a separate brand. The 4 belongs to that early, decisive run. Rendered in a women's cut with a soft floral colour name, it does what the Jordan line has spent recent years doing deliberately: opening a set of shoes built around one man's career to a much wider audience without softening the silhouette itself.
Utility
A soft colour name on a heavy shoe needs balance. First recipe: relaxed straight leg denim with a plain white tee and a hem that stacks slightly, so the silhouette reads casual rather than styled. Second: black tailored trousers cropped above the ankle with a fine knit, using the shoe as a deliberate contrast between soft palette and hard shape. The 4 is bulky, so avoid narrow ankle hems that fight it. This is a women's sizing release and runs close to true to size, snug through the midfoot. Clean the mesh panels with a soft dry brush first, avoid soaking, keep the midsole clean, and dry naturally away from heat.
Influence
From the 1980s onward Air Jordans became status symbols in urban and hip hop fashion and staples of mainstream American youth dress, and they carried that status into 1990s casual clothing and the 2000s athleisure years without losing it. Two things sustained it: the athlete, and the design. Michael Jordan remains the signature athlete the whole brand was built around, and the early models are still treated as canonical objects rather than as retro product. A women's release in a floral colour name is a bet that the canon can be extended rather than merely reissued, and that the shoe's authority survives the recolouring.
Construction
The Air Jordan 4 has one of the most recognisable structures in the category, defined by the winged lace supports on either side of the upper and the mesh panels set into the sides. Those elements were originally functional, giving adjustable midfoot lockdown and ventilation for a heavy court shoe, and they are still what makes the model instantly identifiable at a distance. Nike Air, the pressurised gas unit sealed into the midsole, does the cushioning. Practically the mesh panels are the weak point for cleaning, since they trap dust and cannot take heavy scrubbing, and the lace wings need re threading occasionally. Break in is short but the shoe is substantial and never feels light.
