Released on 14 July 2023 and part of the Calm Slide line. This release has a eva upper in Sail/Sail. Nike's whole engineering history is a hunt for less: Bill Bowerman poured rubber into his wife's waffle iron looking for a lighter sole, Flywire later used cables to hold the foot with minimal upper material, and Lunarlite cut weight out of the midsole. A slide is the extreme end of that logic, a shoe stripped back to a footbed and a strap with nothing else left to remove. The Calm Slide is Nike's version, and this one comes in Sail, a warm off-white rather than a stark one. It is the most honest product the company makes, because there is nowhere for design to hide when there is almost no shoe.
Use one: post-gym or post-pool, worn barefoot, with shorts or track trousers, which is the function it was designed around and the one it does best. Use two: with a thick white or cream sock and a straight trouser cropped just above the ankle, the deliberate version of the look, where a warm off-white slide reads as considered rather than lazy. Do not walk long distances in it, since there is no heel retention and your toes end up gripping. Sizing on slides is best taken slightly generous so the strap sits across the widest part of the foot. Rinse the footbed with cool water and mild soap, and dry it out of direct sun.
Nike's move into everyday dress happened through shoes people wore constantly rather than shoes people admired, and slides are the purest example: they belong to locker rooms, pool decks and the walk between the two. That is the athletic world's actual daily uniform, and it crossed into general wardrobes the same way Air Force 1s and Air Max models became staples of mainstream American youth dress from the 1980s onward, then returned through 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure looks. The Swoosh, drawn by Carolyn Davidson and first used on 18 June 1971, is usually the only branding a slide carries, which is all it needs.
The title gives you the model and the colour, not a materials specification, so take the build on its own terms. A slide is defined by what it lacks: no laces, no heel counter, no closure system, which means the strap over the forefoot is doing all the retention work and the footbed shape is doing all the comfort work. That puts the entire design burden on the profile of the sole and how the strap is anchored to it. Sail is a warm off-white that shows dirt at the strap edges and along the footbed before anywhere else. Expect it to slip on instantly and to be genuinely uninterested in supporting lateral movement.
