Released on 10 October 2024 and part of the LeBron TR 1 line. This release has a mesh upper in Smoke Grey/Black/Light Smoke Grey/Volt. Smoke Grey with Volt is Nike's training palette: a neutral base with a high visibility yellow green that the company has used for decades to mark performance product. This is a training shoe rather than a basketball shoe, built for the gym work that supports the sport rather than for the sport itself. It carries LeBron James's name because he is one of Nike's signature athletes and endorsers, part of the lineage that began when the company signed Michael Jordan in 1984 and discovered that an athlete could become a product line. A training model is the least glamorous and most used part of that arrangement.
Two uses. First, the gym: lifting, circuits and court adjacent conditioning, where the flat stable platform is the entire point. Skip it for long distance running, which it is not built for. Second, off duty with grey sweats and a black tee, where Volt is the only accent, which is exactly how the colourway was designed to read. Size true; training shoes should sit snug because a sliding foot under load is how ankles turn. Air the shoe out after every session, because training footwear absorbs more sweat than casual footwear and that is what breaks down cushioning. Wipe the upper down rather than washing it.
Nike's endorsement model is its most copied invention. Training shoes are built for lateral load rather than forward roll, which changes everything underfoot. The platform is flatter and wider than a running shoe so you stay stable under weight, the heel is firmer for lifting, and the forefoot still needs enough flex for jumping and shuffling. Nike Air, the pressurised gas unit sealed into the midsole, provides cushioning without the soft stack that would make a lifting platform unstable. The upper uses cabled support through the midfoot in the spirit of Flywire, holding the foot with minimal material. Volt accents land on the branding and the sole trim, which is where the eye tracks during movement. Style code FJ6151 001 confirms the pair.
