Adidas Yeezy 350 V2 Carbon Beluga
Adidas Yeezy 350 V2 Carbon Beluga
Culture Note™️ / ملاحظة الثقافة
Origin
Beluga is where the 350 V2 story starts. The original landed on September 24, 2016 in Steel Grey and Solar Red under style code BB1826, after being unveiled at the Yeezy Season 3 presentation at Madison Square Garden, and it set the template every V2 followed: pixelated Primeknit, a fat stripe across the lateral side, SPLY-350 running backwards along it. Carbon Beluga, style code HQ7045, is that shoe taken into shadow, and collectors call it Beluga 3.0. It arrived on May 31, 2023 at 230 dollars, part of the run adidas put back into the market after ending the Yeezy partnership in October 2022, when the company chose to sell and donate remaining stock and to honour production orders already committed to its suppliers.
Utility
These run small. Half a size up from your true size is the floor, and the Indian retailers stocking the Carbon Beluga advise anywhere from half to a full size up, so if you are between sizes or wide footed take the full step. The Primeknit is narrow and tapered, it will feel snug across the forefoot even at correct length, and it settles with wear rather than stretching out. For fits: black straight leg denim, a grey heavyweight tee and a bomber lets the Solar Red stripe do all the talking. Or go tonal with charcoal cargos and a black hoodie so the shoe reads as texture, not statement. Clean the Primeknit with a soft brush and mild soap, never a washing machine, and keep the Boost midsole out of direct sun so it does not yellow.
Influence
Beluga is the colorway that made the 350 V2 the most recognisable sneaker of its era, and that red stripe became shorthand for the entire silhouette. Carbon Beluga carries a heavier story than a normal colorway. It sits inside the inventory adidas decided to sell and donate after the partnership closed, which turned a routine drop into a closing chapter and gave it a weight ordinary restocks never have. The dark grey execution also fixed the one real complaint about the original: light Beluga showed every scuff and every kerb. This one hides them. Among 350 V2 colorways it is the easy one to actually wear, dark enough to disappear into a fit and loud enough to still be read across a room.
Construction
The upper is two tone grey Primeknit, a stretch knit that behaves like a sock: no break-in, no stiff panels, and it breathes, which matters far more in Indian heat than it does in Herzogenaurach. The laces are colour matched so nothing interrupts the line of the shoe. Underfoot runs a full length Boost midsole, adidas's expanded TPU pellet foam, and that is the reason a shoe this stylised is genuinely wearable through a full day on your feet. The Solar Red SPLY-350 stripe on the lateral side is a monofilament panel woven into the knit rather than a printed graphic, so it catches light differently as you move. Against the carbon grey it is the only loud element; sole, liners and laces are all darkened to match.
