Released on 1 July 2025 and part of the FuelCell Rebel v5 line. This release has a mesh upper in Angora/Earth Shadow/Sea Salt. This is New Balance doing the thing it actually built its business on: making a shoe for people who run. The Rebel sits in the FuelCell family, the brand's performance foam line, and v5 is the current turn of a model designed around lightness and turnover rather than protection. Angora with Earth and Shadow keeps the palette calm, a warm off white ground with muted brown and grey, which is a quietly confident choice for a shoe built to be raced in. The company's connection to running is not marketing: it goes back to the Trackster in 1960, the first running shoe offered in varying widths, and forward to its sponsorship of New York Road Runners.
Utility
This is a training and race day shoe first. Use it for tempo runs, intervals and race efforts where you want the FuelCell rebound working, and keep a heavier daily trainer in rotation so you do not burn through it on easy miles. If you do wear it off the run, the angora tone pairs cleanly with grey or black technical shorts and a plain tee, or with cream sweatpants and a neutral hoodie for travel. Construction
The midsole is FuelCell, New Balance's nitrogen injected blend of TPU and EVA engineered for responsiveness and energy return, tuned bouncier for running than the firmer version the brand uses in basketball.
