Released on 19 January 2025 and part of the 1080v14 line. This release has a mesh upper in Black/Black Metallic/Phantom. The 1080 is the shoe New Balance builds for people who actually run, and the fourteenth version tells you how the company works: refinement over reinvention, privately held since Jim Davis bought the business in 1972 and therefore free to iterate rather than chase a launch cycle. It runs on Fresh Foam, the proprietary EVA blend introduced in 2014, and this is the women's build rather than a scaled down men's shoe. Black Metallic is the styling decision on top of that, a running trainer finished so it can be worn without announcing itself as sports equipment, which is the same instinct that made grey New Balance runners acceptable everywhere in the first place.

Construction
The midsole is Fresh Foam X, the proprietary EVA blend New Balance introduced in 2014, moulded as a single piece and tuned zonally so cushioning and support land at the points of the foot that need each. That zoning lets a soft trainer stay stable across a long run instead of collapsing under the arch. The upper is a lace up knit built with minimal seams, because on distance mileage every edge is a potential hot spot, and the lacing is where you actually control fit on a stretch upper. The metallic finish sits on the black base as sheen rather than colour, adding no weight and no seams. Multiple width fittings, the brand's oldest technical promise, matter more on a running shoe than on anything else it makes.
