Adidas Yeezy 500 High Tyrian

Designed by Kanye West and released on 16 May 2020 as part of the Yeezy 500 line. This release has a suede upper in Tyrian/Tyrian/Tyrian. The 500 arrived in December 2017 as the low, dense, deliberately awkward runner in the line, and the High takes that same mass and pulls it up over the ankle into something closer to a boot. Tyrian is the most loaded name in the family. Tyrian purple was the ancient dye extracted from sea snails, historically the most expensive colour a person could wear, which puts it in a different register from Moonrock and Desert Rat while keeping the same instinct: name the colour after the material it came from. On a heavy purple high top the reference lands hard. This is one of the few Yeezy releases where the colour carries a story older than the label itself.
