Designed by Kanye West and released on 28 October 2022 as part of the Yeezy Basketball line. This release has a primeknit upper in Onyx/Onyx/Onyx. The Basketball Knit is the line's attempt to take its sock like construction onto a court silhouette, giving the knit language a higher collar, a wider base and a more aggressive stance than the running derived models it grew from. Onyx is its all black treatment, a stone name that fits squarely in the vocabulary the label has used since Pirate Black and Moonrock, where the colour is described by the material it resembles rather than by a fashion term. Monochrome is the natural home for this shape: with no visible logo anywhere on the shoe, a single dark tone forces you to read the silhouette, which is exactly how the whole catalogue was designed to work.
