Released on 25 October 2024 and part of the Adizero Evo SL line. This release has a textile upper in Cloud White/Core Black/Cloud White. The Adizero Evo SL White Black comes out of a very specific moment for adidas. Tigst Assefa ran 2:11:53 in Berlin and destroyed the women's marathon world record by more than two minutes, wearing the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, a 134 gram racer that cost 500 dollars and existed in almost no quantity. The Evo SL takes that shoe's shape and its foam philosophy and puts them on something normal runners can actually buy. Style code JH6206 is the Cloud White and Core Black launch pair, oversized black Three Stripes cutting across a bright white upper and folding down into the sculpted white midsole. Loud in silhouette, quiet in colour. It is the pair people mean when they say the white Evo SL.
Run it two ways. For training, put it under split shorts and a technical tee for long runs, steady efforts and easy days with short fast bursts, which is where this foam is happiest. It is a daily trainer, not a race day shoe, so keep the plated pair for the start line. Off duty, the White Black works with black tapered joggers or dark straight jeans and a grey crew, and the oversized stripes do the styling for you. Adizero Evo SL sizing is true to size in length, so take your usual adidas number, though the forefoot and toe box run spacious, so a slightly thicker sock helps narrow feet. Keep the white clean with a soft brush and mild soap, air dry away from direct sun, never machine wash.
Running is the wave now, and the Evo SL is the shoe that carried it into everyday wardrobes. It looks like the Adios Pro Evo 1, the 500 dollar record breaker adidas built for a handful of elites, but reviewers are blunt that the resemblance is skin deep: different foam, no carbon rods, a completely different brief. That gap is exactly why it works. You get the silhouette of the most talked about racing shoe in years at 150 dollars, in what one reviewer calls a super trainer without a plate. The White Black is the pair that broke out of run clubs and into gym bags, coffee runs and airport fits, because white on black reads as sneaker rather than as kit.
The midsole is the whole story: full-length Lightstrike Pro, the same race foam family adidas puts under its carbon racers, with the EVA carrier deleted so nothing dilutes it. The bounce you feel at kilometre one is still there at kilometre fifteen, and it is tuned in the middle, neither mushy nor harsh. Stack sits at 39 mm heel and 33 mm forefoot for a 6 mm drop, real protection without losing the road. The upper is thin engineered mesh with excellent ventilation, so your foot is not swimming by the end of a humid evening run. A thin Continental rubber patch shields the outsole and holds decent grip in the wet. All of it weighs about 224 grams in a men's US 9.
