Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released on 5 November 2025 as part of the Air Jordan 11 line. This release has a patent leather upper in Deep Royal Blue/Fire Red/Sail/Black/Muslin. Rare Air is the phrase the brand uses about its own founder, and putting it on an Air Jordan 11 Retro is a considered choice: the 11 is the model that most changed what a basketball shoe could look like. It came from the Tinker Hatfield era, when Nike had handed the line to a designer who turned a signature shoe into a design series with its own vocabulary, and it is the model that brought patent leather, a formal wear material, onto a hardwood floor. Construction
The 11's build is distinctive: a patent leather mudguard wrapping the lower half of the shoe, a lighter upper above it, a high padded collar and a carbon fibre shank plate of the type the line adopted for torsional stiffness. Nike Air cushioning has run through the range since the Air Jordan II. Patent behaves unlike any other material in this catalogue; it does not scuff, it scratches, and a deep scratch will not brush out.
