Smoke Grey with Volt is Nike's training palette: a neutral base with a high visibility yellow green that the company has used for decades to mark performance product. This is a training shoe rather than a basketball shoe, built for the gym work that supports the sport rather than for the sport itself. It carries LeBron James's name because he is one of Nike's signature athletes and endorsers, part of the lineage that began when the company signed Michael Jordan in 1984 and discovered that an athlete could become a product line.
