Released on 2 August 2023 and part of New Balance's 550 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Reflection/Midnight Violet. White with Midnight Purple is a court colourway with an evening register, a clean white leather base broken by a purple deep enough to read almost black until light hits it. The BBW code places it as the women's cut of a basketball silhouette, and the 550 is the model where New Balance competes purely on proportion, since there is no cushioning story to hide behind. That is a fair test for a company whose reputation was built on fit engineering rather than styling. The shape holds up, which is the only reason a shoe designed for a hardwood floor now spends its life on pavements and in offices.
