Dark Mocha is the colourway that proved the Air Jordan 1 no longer needs a team to justify a palette. Deep coffee brown over sail with black weight, it is closer to a pair of boots than to a basketball uniform, and it became one of the most requested high top makeups of the modern retro era for exactly that reason. The silhouette is unchanged from Peter Moore's design with Bruce Kilgore, built for a rookie Nike signed on 26 October 1984 with a royalty deal written in, and released to the public on 1 April 1985 after the first 50,000 pairs sold out. The high cut is the original proposition, and brown is what happens when it stops answering to a jersey.
