Lucid Lemon over black on the Adizero Adios Pro 4 is race day dress code, a colour engineered to be picked out from a broadcast camera and a start line. This is the part of adidas closest to what the company was originally for. Adolf Dassler began in his mother's laundry room in Herzogenaurach making purpose built shoes for individual athletic events, watching athletes rather than guessing at them, and the Adizero programme is the direct descendant of that habit. The Adios name has carried adidas marathon racing for years, and the Pro designation marks the top of the competitive line rather than the trainer sitting under it. In this colourway the black is a base and the lemon is the signal, which is exactly the hierarchy a racing shoe wants.
Save this pair for the sessions that matter. Use it for goal race day and one or two sharpening workouts in the fortnight before, wearing a thin technical sock and lacing firmly through the midfoot so the forefoot rods load properly. Everyday easy mileage belongs in a training shoe, because a Pro level racing midsole gives up its bounce far faster under slow accumulated volume.
