Released on 7 July 2022 and part of Nike's Air Humara LX line. This release has a leather upper in Light Bone/Gold/Sail. The Humara comes out of Nike's outdoor programme, where the design problem was traction and protection rather than court movement, which gives it a heavier, more mechanical look than anything in the running or basketball archive. Handing it to Jacquemus takes a shoe built for rough ground and puts it in the hands of a label known for pared back, sun bleached minimalism. Light Bone with Gold is the result and it is a genuinely strange pairing for a trail silhouette: a pale, soft neutral with a metallic accent, applied to a shape originally designed to be dragged through dirt. That tension is the entire proposition.
Recipe one: cream or sand toned wide leg trousers with a fine knit, letting the Light Bone upper melt into a tonal outfit and the gold detail act as the only hardware. Recipe two: washed black denim with an oversized shirt, where the pale shoe lifts the bottom of a dark fit and the technical outsole adds contrast against soft fabrics. Trail derived silhouettes fit snug and structured, and this is a women's build, so check the sizing conversion before ordering. Pale uppers on an outdoor shape are a maintenance commitment. Keep them off wet trails despite what the outsole suggests, and clean the same week rather than the same season.
Nike has been comfortable putting its products into the hands of people outside sport for years, including artist collaborators such as Takashi Murakami, who designed a Nike related digital work in 2022. Fashion partnerships work on the same principle as the older cultural crossovers that made Air Jordans, Air Force 1s and Air Max models into status objects in urban style: the silhouette has to be recognisable before altering it means anything. A trail shoe is an unusual choice for that treatment precisely because it is not one of the famous shapes, which makes the collaboration read as a designer's pick rather than a marketing department's.
Trail derived uppers are assembled from layers, with reinforcement placed where the foot meets rock and scree, and hardware that resists the lacing loosening on uneven ground. That construction survives here even when the colours have moved somewhere else entirely, so the shoe keeps its technical geometry and its aggressive outsole while presenting as a fashion object. Light Bone is a warm off white and the least practical possible finish for this category, which is a deliberate joke and a real maintenance problem. Clean it early and gently, use a foam cleaner with a soft brush, and keep the gold detailing away from abrasives, which strip metallic finishes permanently.
